History and description

The museum has both a permanent exhibition and a number of temporary exhibitions going on at the same time.

The Museum itself was designed by the Anglo-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid who, in 2010, won the prestigious British architectural Stirling prize for the project.

The MAXXI architectural museum is partly devoted to noted 20th century architects and their works, and partly to even more contemporary emerging figures and trends in the architectural world.

The MAXXI Art Museum on the other hand is focused mainly on groundbreaking art seen from an Italian perspective and mostly by Italian artists.
