Helmut Newton Exhibition Rome (2013)

White Women, Sleepless Nights, Big Nudes is the title of an exhibition in the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. It starts on March 6th, 2013 and will go on until July 21st. The exhibition is dedicated to the fashion photographer Helmut Newton.

Almost 200 photographs by Newton are exhibited. The exhibition is an initiative by the late Newton’s widow Jane and shows the highlights from the first 3 books he made.

Newton’s Books

The exhibition’s title refers to the titles of the 3 books Newton produced in the 1970’s.  White Women was the first one of the three and was published in 1976. Sleepless Nights followed to years after that and in Big Nudes saw the light in 1981. Newton was not to publish books after these three.

The Photographer

Newton‘s pictures are often taken outside the traditional studio and his specialty is portraying his models in provocative poses in street scenes. is dat de foto’s vaak buiten de studio gemaakt zijn.
