History and description

The Gagosian Gallery was inaugurated in 2007, with a Cy Twombly exhibition, and is the first European Gagosian Gallery after the one in London.

The building itself used to be a banking hall.

The main space of the gallery consists of a large oval room, with a gently curving wall, curving just enough in fact to be able to accommodate painting exhibitions.

Present Gagosian Gallery exhibition

“Forgiving and Forgetting” is an exhibition by Damien Hirst. It includes works from the artist’s earlier “Treasures from the Shipwreck of the Unbelievable” and coincides (more or less) with another Hirst exhibition in the Galleria Borghese. The exhibition started on July 6 and will last until October 23, 2021.
