The MAXXI Architettura in Rome, between September 9 and November 13 2011, will host an exhibition called “Exhibiting the collection. Architectural Projects from the Collection of MAXXI Architettura“.
The exhibition focuses on the collection of the Museum of Architecture itself and exhibits pieces that never have been on display before. There are more than 70 pieces of art to be seen, designed by 18 different architects.
One section is dedicated to the International Architectural Competition that was held in 1998 to come up with a design for the MAXXI Museum itself. Apart from Zaha Hadid‘s winning model, 2 more designs can be admired.
Videos of interviews with the architects themselves shed light on their creations.
Highlights of the exhibition Exhibiting the Collection include:
- Sergio Musumeci‘s design for the Messina Bridge (See photo © Cesare Querci).
- Costantino Dardi‘s design for the decors in the movie The Belly of an Architect (Peter Greenaway, 1987).
- Aldo Rossi‘s reconstruction of the Teatro Fenice in Venice.
