Usually it is held one week after the Easter weekend, but this year Rome’s Settimana della Cultura (Cultural Week) is held before the holiday. For the 13th time all of Rome’s (and Italy’s) museums and monuments will be accessible to visitors, for free.
The free museum week in Italy starts on April 9, 2011 and will continue until the 17th, so it is also a fairly long week.
During this week you will get free entry to museums, to villas and to the various other archeological and artistic attractions of Rome that are run by either the city or the state.
Please note therefore that the Vatican Museums are not included.
Apart from the free entrance to Rome’s tourist attractions, there will also be several events especially organized for the cultural week and a number of museums and interesting sites that are normally closed to the public will open their doors.
