The Colonna district is the third rione of Rome and it is named after the big column on the Piazza Colonna.
Colonna District Rome
It is one of the most central, and also one of the smallest, quarters, but is important since it contains part of one of Rome’s most prestigious shopping streets, the Via del Corso.
Other tourist sites of note are the San Lorenzo in Lucina church, the Palazzo Chigi and the entire Via Sistina, which is one of the most ostentatiously rich streets of the city.
Famous landmarks like the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain are however located just outside the rione Colonna. Moreover, although the Piazza della Rotonda is located inside the rione, the Pantheon is just outside it.
