2021 Christmas Markets Rome

The festive season in Rome generally starts in the last week of November, with the opening of a number of Christmas markets all over the city. Although its most recent editions have been plagued by scandals, the Piazza Navona Christmas Market is still the most famous one of the city.

Note that many Christmas markets, especially the indoor ones, require the Green Pass.

Piazza Navona Christmas Market

The Christmas market in the Piazza Navona is mostly dedicated to children, with stalls full of toys and candy. Until a couple of years ago, the market was a lot bigger, but many stalls were moved because they had nothing to do with Christmas. The market in itself is still relatively mediocre, but the Piazza Navona atmosphere manages to give it that little bit extra.  The entertainment includes face-painting and clowns. (The Piazza Navona market is open from December 8th till January 6th, from 10.00 till 01.00 during weekdays and from 10.00 till 02.00 in the weekend.)

Christmas Land

Rome’s biggest Christmas market is called Christmas Land. It is held in a area of 6.000 m² former bus depot near the Re di Roma metro stop. The entrance is at Via Tuscolana, 179 and it is held on the first three weekends of December.

Magico Natale ai Parioli

The Spazio Eventi Tirso hosts a 15 day Christmas market called Magico Natale ai Parioli. Apart from the usual stalls with gift ideas and food, there will also be live music concerts. The event will last 15 days.

Mercatini di Natale all’Auditorium

Just like every year, there will also be a Christmas Market at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. There are stalls with local food, Christmas gifts and candy. For those who are travelling with children, the Renzo Piano designed Auditorium also has an ice skating rink.
